The location

The Plattensee camping site with its bathing lake and an area of 13 ha is located in the noise and landscape protection right at the "Romantic Road" and the Elbe bicycle route R 2 in the leisure time and relaxation centre Dannigkow. The FEZ is 58 ha in full, and has another five quarry lakes as well as a dense pine and beech forest. The wonderful landscape invites to bathing and hiking.

Excursion advice

• The castles of Leitzkau and Dornburg are particularly attractive. The moated castle, more than 1000 years old, is worth a visit as well.
• Other excavation targets include the Romantic church of Pretzien and the Pretziener Wehr, built from 1871–1875. A unique technical wonder of German masters at the time, it is still used for floor regulation at the river Elbe
• Wonderful garden facilities and the Medieval moated castle with its onion tower, the monument of the town of Gommern: Heidegarten (former heathen landscape with about 35 different heather types), rock gardens (largest rock garden of Germany), herbal gardens (farmers, apothecaries, dye, centred and cosmetics gardens, poisonous and symbolic plant gardens), rose gardens. The garden facilities are open around the year and freely accessible.
